A Just Transition means greening the economy in a way that is as fair and inclusive as possible to everyone concerned, creating decent work opportunities and leaving no one behind. Skills development is a key enabler of this transition. Re-skilling and upskilling, including through work-based learning and apprenticeships, will prepare workforces to transition to new jobs and prevent negative social impacts. And, social protection is a key tool for ensuring just transitions. It provides protection for those at risk of losing employment and time to build the necessary skills to move on to a new job.
